I spent the last four days rebuilding this website. The rebuild included using the latest version of the 1.0.x line of Joomla, down from using Joomla 1.5. I have many reasons for why I did this. The reasons did not include Joomla 1.5 being a bad product. On the contrary, I feel that Joomla 1.5 is a great product and that its potential has yet to be reached. The primary reason that I decided to revert was third party support. I have been using a number of add-ons on customer sites that have greatly improved their SEO. These add-ons either don't exist for 1.5 or are in beta. This is the main reason I decided to revert to the old version. Once third party support for 1.5 ramps up, I may “upgrade” again. I will continue to run 1.5 in a development environment and any new issues that I come across will be posted here. |
